Last week I bought Netflix for the first time and wow! There was a point where I questioned the point in Netflix believe it or not. My logic being that I spend so much time gaming or doing something else that I never watch TV so why would Netflix be any different? I was most definitely wrong.
I’m not going to lie I am most definitely late to the party but I have been trying to make up for lost time so here are my top three Netflix shows I have binge watched so far! And I need your help to know what else I am missing out on so if you have any recommendations let me know!
What can I say? BoJack Horseman is an amazingly funny show about the crazy life of a 90’s sitcom celebrity BoJack Horseman. Now washed up and old news it follows his crazy adventures and plots to try to regain his lost fame. Along the humour is dark and the characters amazing! There’s also an Ace character, Todd, BoJack’s housemate. Which being Ace myself is just amazing to see. My one comment would be that the animation style seems really simplistic especially in the first season but by season 5 it definitely gets better.
Disenchantment is written by Matt Groening and looks like a fantastical version of the Simpsons or Futurama. Following the adventures of the rebellious princess Bean as she fights against the expectations that come with being a princess along with two new friends a Demon and an Elf the series is pretty fun and lighthearted. I love the art style and the slightly disturbing adult spin on traditional fantasy tropes but the humor can at times be a little on the nose for my liking.
The Dragon Prince
The last of the three series I have now binge watched is The Dragon Prince. For some reason the series gives me serious Avatar The Last Airbender vibes! Its set in a magical world divided. After discovering Dark Magic and generally being not the greatest Humans are exiled to the west of the continent with the elves and dragons to the east separated by impassable mountains with the only route through defended by the Dragon King. The setting is an interesting variation on the usual fantasy world and the show is both fun and engaging and with only one season released so far I can’t wait to see where it goes!
Those are the first series I have watched on Netflix. Probably best not to dwell too much on the fact that they are all cartoons! I’m curious have you watched any of these series? What did you think and what would you recommend? There is too much to choose from!
Thanks for reading to the end!
